Have you ever wondered why the city of Preston boasts not one, but two, different statues relating to the world of Wallace and Gromit?
That’s because Oscar winning Nick Park, creative genius behind the characters, was born in Preston and raised just outside the city in Walmer Bridge. His family are from the city and it was in his early years during visits to his Grandma's house on Norris Street that Nick developed a love for animation, cartoons and storytelling.
While Nick created the characters as part of his graduation project at university, they were inspired by the people and places he saw growing up, with Wallace's name even coming from a labrador he met on a bus in Preston!
With such a fabulous connection to Nick Park's brilliant mind and the much loved icons Wallace and Gromit, it's no wonder that there are so many places that pay homage to them in and around Preston. From regular themed events to the first ever first ever Wallace & Gromit theme park ride take a look at the places you can visit below.
