Celebrate Mother's Day with a trip to Cedar Farm

Cedar Farm is not just a great place to find awesome gifts for Mother’s Day but also a wonderful place to take your mum for the day. To help you celebrate Mother’s Day at Cedar Farm, we’ve put together the following guide, so you make the most of your day there. 

We’d recommend spending the morning enjoying a perfectly roasted coffee with a piece of cake from Roberts & Co’s Espresso bar. Or you could always treat your mum to a freshly made breakfast with a modern twist at the highly regarded Café @ Cedar Farm.

After enjoying a relaxing morning, you will want to visit the first business to be established at Cedar Farm – The Gallery. Since 1987, The Gallery has bulti an astonishing reputation for offering a diverse range of contemporary crafts including domestic and sculptural ceramics, fused and blown glass, and an amazing array of jewellery and textiles. Business owner, Kate O’Farrell, also puts on an exciting array of Craft and Design workshops 

Once you have finished looking around The Gallery, it’s time to explore the farm’s courtyard. Here you’ll discover fabulous women’s clothing at Etcetera with beautifully arranged flowers and plants from The Potting Sheds. And don’t miss checking out The Food Shop to pick up some delicious ready meals using the best locally sourced ingredients.

From here, your next stop will be to pop into the Pig Barn…don’t worry you won’t see any pigs. Instead, you’ll find a stylish converted building that’s now home to some incredible independent businesses specialising in creativity and wellbeing. These being… 

• Julie Langan Glass - offering innovative and contemporary glass décor and giftware 

• Briony Machin – offering distinctive and colourful mosaics, including DIY kits so you can also get crafty at home 

• Higham Beauty Studio – a specialists salon offering a wide range of treatments in a luxurious environment 

• Rachel Bartholomew – offering nutrition consultations to help you live healthier 

Just across from the Pig Farm you’ll find The Design Shed. A space where visitors will discover award winning jewellery from Selini, a holistic hair styling experience at Blonde & The Bears and an impressive art gallery by Carnes Fine Art. And don’t forget to pop into Rufford Printing Company to see some traditional printing techniques being used.  

Before grabbing some lunch, we encourage you to take some time to visit the goats, sheep and chickens who live happily on the farm. You are welcome to interact and feed the animals. A great activity for the kids or if you just want a small break from mooching around the shops. There are also two small playgrounds for the little ones to enjoy. 

After spending some time with the farm’s animals, it is time to head over to The Barn for some lunch. Enjoy a lovely sit down meal in a lively communal area flooded with natural light and surrounded by some beautiful art from Carnes Fine Art. There are three mouth watering central food outlets, each serving a delicious selection of cuisine from around the world.

• Moreish – offers a selection of brunch items, sweet baked goods, and desserts 

• Da Massimo – offering freshly hand-stretched pizzas, antipasto sharing boards and desserts 

Once you’ve enjoyed a delightful lunch it’s time to take your mum for a mooch through the art@cedarfarm building. You can get to this building through The Barn and here you’ll find a collection of nine studios, all home to incredibly talented craftspeople who make and sell their products on site…so be ready to treat your mum to a gift or three.

• Slyglass - watch Stephen and Léona Lindars beautifully crafting glass art pieces for the home 

• Heather Capture Photography - an award-winning wedding and portrait photographer who has been based at Cedar Farm for over 12 years.
