Getaway on a golfing adventure in Lancashire

Want to tee-off but haven’t a clue how to begin? Keen golfer but want to get the next generation involved? Then Lancashire has just the place for you. Southport Golf Academy sits within the boundaries of West Lancashire and is the official home of the Lancashire County Golf Development Centre.  

Providing expert tuition for all standards of golfer the academy aims to provide a welcoming, unrestrictive attitude to golfing. There is expert tuition from Senior PGA Professional Richie Benyon amongst others. Visitors can find a 9-hole golf course as well as range, short game area and putting green at the academy, plus performance studio/simulator, custom fitting and regular lessons.   

A bit of fun golf  

Of course, golfing fun doesn’t always come from the serious 9- and 18-hole courses scattered around the region. You can also find a series of mini and crazy golf experiences across Lancashire for when you are looking for something a little less serious, or a way to enjoy golf under cover!  

The Hole in Wand  

A must for any wizarding world fan, this fun, indoor, course is located just off the Promenade in Blackpool and features 9 holes in which you will have to putt the ball in as few goes as possible through railway tracks, into serpents' mouths and past bubbling cauldrons. You will even have to determine whether you are "good" or "evil" and will be treated to a magical potion at the end of your quest. 

Flower Bowl Entertainment Centre  

A wow-factor18 hole crazy golf experience awaits at The Flower Bowl Entertainment Centre. This course has surprises around every corner from tree-lined paths, Japanese gardens and more. This is a covered outdoor experience, so you'll need to wrap up on cooler days but there's not much chance of getting wet. Visitors can also choose from an exclusive range of golf balls with custom designs on them such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Minions and more! This is just one of the fabulous attractions at The Flower Bowl, with visitors being able to enjoy bowling, golf simulator, crazy pool and even Curling at the venue too.  

Level Preston  

Trailer Trash Jim's Crazy Golf is a fun and exciting crazy golf experience in the heart of Preston city centre. Located within Level Preston, the 12-hole course is just one of the many activities you can do in the venue, which also boasts bowling alleys, laser quest area, karaoke booths and sports bar. The course features fun and funky street art inspired holes with graffiti-ed golf buggies and nods to some well-loved pop culture characters, as well as Preston's sporting history.  

Dino Mini Golf at The Blackpool Tower  

Do you have a dinosaur-mad little one in your family? The look no further than Dino Golf at The Blackpool Tower for your next adventure golf experience. This dinosaur inspired golf course has 9 holes of prehistoric fun with model dinosaurs at every turn! This takes place on Level & of the iconic Blackpool Tower, with discounts for those with tickets to the venue's other activities such as the Blackpool Tower Eye, or Blackpool Tower Circus, making it a great place to spend the day.  

Happy Mount Park  

Not as well protected from the elements, Happy Mount Park offers a range of low-cost family fun activities and adventure golf is one of them. The outdoor pirate themed course offers 16 holes for you and your loved ones to wind round with faux bunkers, playful hazards and more.  

Fairhaven Adventure Golf 

Last but not least on our list is Fairhaven Adventure Golf. Located in the beautiful Fairhaven Lake parkland, this is an outdoor mini golf experience with a local twist. As you make your way around the fabulous course you will start to spot local landmarks from Fylde and the surrounding areas – a great way to talk about the local attractions you’ve visited during you stay and where to go next!
