Looking for fun things to do on the Lancashire coast this spring? Look no further.

Some of Lancashire's brilliant locals are here to give you the insider knowledge of where to go and what to eat when you pay the region a visit.

Blackpool

With its iconic tower and countless incredible attractions and eateries, it's no surprise that some things can be overlooked when spending a day at the bustling seaside resort of Blackpool.

Next time you're in the area Alex Young, Owner at Stanley Villa Farm Camping and Fishing recommends a promenade golf experience:

“When we’re not welcoming guests at Stanley Villa Farm, one of our favourite places to visit as a family is 'The Hole In Wand'. It’s such a magical and fun experience for the kids — exploring the wizard-themed mini golf, discovering quirky surprises and enjoying a potion at the end always brings big smiles. It’s a brilliant way to make memories and reminds us why Blackpool is such a great place for families.”

Once you've enjoyed a round or two of golf, Finn Hough, Catering Supervisor at The Blackpool Tower recommends reenergising at a nearby food hall:

"As catering supervisor at The Blackpool Tower, I am lucky enough to be in the middle of all the action of the iconic seaside resort. When I'm not working, Abingdon Street Market is one of my favourite spots. It’s great place to go with friends whether it’s for food, drinks and they often have live music. It’s been a great addition to the town centre. Once you’ve eaten, it’s always worth a visit the retail area to see what local retailers have on offer too."

Lytham St Annes

Just down the coast you can find the more traditional seaside towns of Lytham and St Annes. Zoe Clifford, Visitor Officer at World Horse Welfare Penny Farm reminds people not to miss the beautiful nature reserve right on the seafront:

"Being the Visitor Officer at Penny Farm brings me into contact with all the other wonderful places to visit on the Fylde coast.  One of my favourite things to do is a trip round Fairhaven Lake – it's ideal for a short stroll and a coffee in the great cafe or if you really want to stretch your legs you can head off along the coast path to Lytham Green. The scenery out to the estuary is amazing and there is always something new to see.  When I have family visiting the children love the Adventure Golf too."

Fleetwood

A traditional port town, Fleetwood, just north of Blackpool, is known for its historic market, fishing port and as the birthplace of the popular sweet Fisherman’s Friends. Theres lots to do in the area with Fleetwood beach, including accessible beach wheelchairs, extensive market and the museum, not to mention the popular Affinity Lancashire Outlet mall. Kate Pollard, Marketing Manager at Affinity Lancashire recommends visitors take in the sea air during their stay:

"When the weather starts to turn and the sunshine makes more of an appearance, we love to make the most of the outdoor space that Wyre offers.

We love visiting the Wyre Estuary Country Park to soak up the scenery and spend some time getting closer to nature. The estuary and river views are really picturesque and there are opportunities for bird watching too.

It's a great place for families, with family friendly facilities and a kids play area, and there are lots of different routes to explore meaning you can enjoy a long rambling walk, or a shorter walk which is kinder to 'little legs'.

And once you've enjoyed a bit of fresh air there's a lovely little cafe which is the perfect spot for a stop off when you've finished your walk.

For us, the Wyre Estuary County Park is a great place to enjoy some family time."

The area is also ideal for families that have accessibility needs, with Brickhouse Farm Cottages nearby providing fantastic accommodation. Owner Vicki Murray, shares her recommendation for visitors to the area:

“Fleetwood Beach Wheelchairs has become a local favourite and a must-visit destination because it exemplifies accessibility. Very few places can offer genuinely accessible beaches for wheelchair users, but Fleetwood Beach Wheelchairs stands out by welcoming and supporting everyone to enjoy our fabulous Lancashire coastline. This commitment to accessibility ensures that all visitors can experience the beauty of the seaside.”

“Farmer Parrs Animal Word also deserves an honourable mention. Farmer Parrs Animal World is a delightful farm experience that offers a unique blend of education and entertainment, making it a must-visit place in Wyre. These experiences offer everyone a chance to immerse themselves in the life of a farm, creating an authentic and memorable visit. Whether you are an animal lover or simply looking for a fun family outing, Farmer Parrs Animal World promises an experience that enriches and delights.”

Morecambe Bay

Running from Fleetwood through to Barrow in Cumbria, Morecambe Bay holds a special place in many people's hearts. Lancashire's boundaries stop within the Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape, and the entire coastline is rife with rugged cliffs, marvellous marchland and beautiful towns and villages.

Michelle Parry, Owner at Land + Sea at Patty's Barn, which overlooks the Cockerham Marshes on the Bay loves that there are so many great walking routes in the area:

"When I'm not helping people get in touch with the nature of the Bay at Land and Sea, you'll find me walking along our stretch of the coastline from Patty's Barn toward Plover Scar Lighthouse and Cockersands Abbey, it fills me with so much joy! This really is the coast I love the most. Out coast is rugged, wild, peaceful and always delivers the best sunsets and skies full of colourful clouds and coastal birds.

Going for a Walling’s ice cream on the green in Glasson Dock and stopping by at The Port of Lancaster Smoke House, and if I have time walking along Morecambe Promenade and stopping of for a Morecambe Bay Chowder."

Rachael Morton, Owner at Lone Wolf Bakery, Lancaster and The Wolf Café, Silverdale also feels drawn to the promenade in Morecambe:

‘On the rare occasion I’m not at the bakery in Lancaster prepping orders for The Wolf Cafe, I retreat to Morecambe in search of calm and serenity by the sea. One of my new favourite places to do just this is Grow Kitchen, a new dog friendly cafe that aims to use homegrown or locally sourced ingredients for their delicious homemade food. Cosy, good grub and 20 seconds from the sea front, where you’ll also pass Mio Gelato, which even in winter is an incredible treat.’

All the businesses mentioned make up just some of the incredible stories of the region, and what makes Lancashire's coast the ideal place to visit. Plan your stay today by visiting the All on the Lancashire Coast pages.
