Established in 2011, SGA is owned and operated by the Carpenter family. From the beginning, it was always the goal to provide a facility that was welcoming, unrestrictive and offered the opportunity for anyone to try golf. Adding length to the existing course layout in order to offer official handicapping, adding two performance studios, as well as upgrading almost every other aspect of the site, has now given the opportunity to offer something to meet all golfer's needs. The introduction of the Trackman Range provides all users with access to the technology used by professionals all over the word
Senior PGA Professional, Richie Benyon offers continuity and knowledge of the site. His career spans more than 26 years, so there will be thousands of golfers in the area that have benefitted from his knowledge at some time. Director of Golf, James, started his golfing journey with a lesson from Richie at 11 years old. He then went on to work within the golf industry at various clubs and retail outlets, adding an array of coaching qualifications along the way, before returning to manage the business and coach his own clients. He now is the regional development coach for the Lancashire Ladies Golf Association. Brad Bridgwood joined the coaching team as performance and junior coach. Brad's in-depth knowledge and countless teaching certifications not only enhance the well established junior academy, but caters for the many elite golfers the area produces.
Appointed as the Lancashire County Golf Development Centre, a partnership with the governing body for the game to help people of all ages to try the game and hopefully develop to a stage where they decide to make it their sports option for the future. The key being the game is playable from an early age till very late in life, something that very few sports can offer, but key to long term health and well-being.
