World Gravy Wrestling Championships

The World Gravy Wrestling Championships have been held at The Rose N Bowl pub in Stacksteads since 2007, it is an annual event held on Bank Holiday Monday (26th August 2019 this year) where male and female competitors dress up in fancy dress costumes and have two minute rounds in a large pool of the warm brown stuff to determine the overall World Gravy Wrestling Champion – yes it is as crazy as it sounds! Competitors are marked on entertainment factor, wrestling prowess and crowd pleasing ability. All money raised is given to The East Lancashire Hospice as well as individual donations for the wrestlers which go to their own chosen charities so far we have raised an amazing £30,000 and we hope for more.
