Known affectionately as The Harris, this attraction is loved for its beautiful spaces, fun experiences and intriguing stories. Stories that shine a light on the people who have settled, lived and worked in Lancashire and Preston, locally and from around the world. Who is the lady in the yellow dress, known as the Mona Lisa of the North? And who was the curious Mrs French with her obsession with perfume bottles?
If historical mysteries are not your thing, you can enjoy refreshments in the spectacular setting of the Harris café, browse the museum shop or stroll around the beautiful building. You will see many paintings by well known artists including L S Lowry, Laura Knight, Stanley Spencer and more recent work by Turner Prize winner Lubaina Himid and Turner Prize Bursary winner Shawanda Corbett. Visit the Space to Relax gallery, browse the library bookshelves, join a workshop or book a ticket for one of our popular Harris Live music events. Stay a while to work, study, read or be inspired; whatever you discover, you’re sure to come away uplifted.
