The Village Tea Room

Lower Wheelton where the tea room is located in front of the beautiful clock tower has tiny sloping streets giving an accurate impression of the surrounding hilly countryside with Briers Brow being the steepest.

Part of the village borders the Leeds/Liverpool canal. The Top Lock is nearby and the locks themselves are a fascinating reminder of the canal linkage once vital to Trans-Pennine industrial canal traffic in their difficult decent from the higher reaches of the Leeds/Liverpool canal to the lower regions of West Lancashire.

Their pledge to all customers at the Village Tea Room at Wheelton is really quite simple.

“To always ensure to you excellent quality homemade food at affordable prices, delivered with exceptionally friendly customer service, in modern and elegant surroundings”

Their signature offering is the unique “Picnic Afternoon Tea” which includes a selection of freshly prepared finger sandwiches, a shot of soup, a selection of mouthwatering mini cakes and a scone with jam and clotted cream, all served with your choice of Taylors of Harrogate Tea or Coffee. Served Tuesday-Sunday between 1pm-4pm, booking is highly advisable as availability cannot be guaranteed during busy periods.

Lighter bite, childrens and takeaway afternoons teas are also available.
