Get ready to dive into the muddy magic of wetlands Mud isn’t just messy, it’s marvellous. It’s the stuff super-powered wetlands and great family adventures are made of.
For one week only this February half term, embrace the mess and discover just how brilliant mud can be with hands-on activities.
Stomp, splash, squelch:
Cook up a muddy masterpiece in the mud kitchen (just don’t taste it).
Tackle muddy obstacle courses. Climb, crawl, and creep your way through the fun. New this year is an under fives obstacle course.
Explore the fascinating beaks of wetland birds and use them to search for worms in the mud pit.
Take part in the Muddy Bake Off, creating cakes out of moon sand, mud, and more. Every 30 minutes from 10:30 - 14:00.
Shape clay into fantastic creations in the craft room from 13:00 to 16:00.
Create the biggest splash in the daily North West Puddle Jumping Competition at14:30.
Head indoors and learn the weird and wonderful facts about nature at the Puddle Show. 11:00 and 14:00 (weekdays only).
Embrace the mess, unleash your creativity, and celebrate the wonder of wetlands at Mudfest.

Nearest railway station is Burscough Bridge station. Martin Mere is 1.5 miles from station. Signposted walk, approximately 30 mins, or can get taxi from Burscough Village. Cyclists are always welcome at Martin Mere.
