The Water Ski Academy

The Water Ski Academy is set in the beautiful countryside around Whitworth and boasts some of the best facilities for water skiing and wake boarding, they have everything for you to enjoy this thrilling and challenging sport.

The centre is run by qualified instructors and drivers and is open 7 days a week from April 1 to October 31 (by appointment through the off season). You don’t have to be a member – non members are also welcome. 

Whether you’ve been doing it for years or you are a total beginner they cater for everybody. Concessionary rates are available for Under 18′s, Over 60’s, full time students and registered disabled.

Water Skiing and Wake Boarding:-
Provided by their BWSW qualified coaches and drivers, each bespoke session is tailored to suit every individual's needs on the water. 

Other Courses:- 
Includes BWSW Ski Boat Driver (SBD 1,2 & 3). UKCC Level 2 & 3 Coaching Qualifications.

They don’t only offer training in all aspects of skiing and boarding, they also train the trainers - they are a learning resource for Coaches and Officials. 

They offer courses to “wannabe” Coaches and Drivers, Sport Specific First Aid Training and Child Protection Courses.

Over the winter months they run training seminars for Judges and Officials in all divisions of the sport so that they can have more inter-club competitions across the Northern Regions in the future.

Organised group bookings for schools, colleges and universities, disabled and special needs groups, corporate days etc can also be booked.

Road Directions

From M65: Exit junction 9 and take the A679 to Burnley (W)/Halifax. At the roundabout take the exit onto the A679 towards Halifax/A646. At the next roundabout take the exit onto Accrington Road/A679. Turn right at Rossendale Road/A646 and continue on A646. Turn left at Todmorden Road/A646. Turn right at Burnley Road/A646. Take slight right at Bacup Road/A671 and continue on A671. Turn left at Yorkshire Street/A671. Turn right at St James Street/A671 and continue on A671. Turn right at Station Road. Station Road turns left and becomes Cowm Park Way North. Turn right at Tong End and continue upto the reservoir.From M62: Exit junction 20 and take the A627(M) towards Rochdale/Oldham. At the roundabout take the exit onto A627(M) heading to Rochdale. Turn left at Edinburgh Way/A664 (signs for Rochdale/A58) and continue on A58. Turn left to stay on A58. Continue onto Whitworth Road/A671 and continue on A671. Turn left at Tong Lane. Continue onto Tong End and follow road upto the reservoir and centre.Approx 3 miles turn right on Tong Lane, past Cock and Magpie Pub up to the centre.
