The award winning Claylands Park is well known as a quality caravan and holiday home park destination but it also plays host to one of the real hidden gems of the area, Stepping Stones Riverside Restaurant and Bar.
Conveniently located adjacent to the caravan park and with ample car parking, ‘Stepping Stones’ is open all year round for good quality food and refreshments.
‘Stepping Stones’ was originally home to Fred and Margaret Robinson who established Claylands park in the 1950s, the success of which resulted in their home being converted into a pub, shop and restaurant, primarily for visitors to the park. Since its conversion in 1992 it has grown in popularity and now welcomes park customers and local people.
The chef has built up a strong reputation for good quality home cooking, using only local food suppliers. This philosophy is very much how Stepping Stones is now managed with a fabulous menu offering quality locally sourced produce but also outstanding value for money.
The secluded gardens are both a delight and total surprise, with extensive lawns and a waterfall cascading down into the River Wyre where a footbridge crosses to follow the path to Scorton. From the restaurant and gardens you can enjoy panoramic views across the river and into the Bowland hills.
Stepping Stones Riverside Bar & Restaurant offers the ideal venue for that private family party or reception, and it can be exclusively hired for functions. Alternatively, with Christmas party menus now available ‘Stepping Stones’ can host more lively events and it has a regular programme of live entertainment.
Stepping Stones Riverside Bar & Restaurant also offers the ideal location to discover the local countryside, with six local circular walks leaflets available from Claylands reception, providing the opportunity to park, enjoy a country walk followed by a visit to Stepping Stones for refreshments.
Stepping Stones Riverside Bar & Restaurant is open Tuesday to Sunday for light refreshments. For more information call 01524 791242 or log on to www.wyreparks.co.uk and follow the link to ‘Stepping Stones’.
Claylands Park is part of the Wyre Parks Group which also owns Foxhouses Caravan Park and Wyre Parks Fishery providing both exclusive coarse and game fishing.
B&B rooms are also available. There is also a fully accessible cottage available for up to 7 people per house. Both B&B and cottages booked through Claylands website.
