The spectacular Whalley Abbey Site encompasses the extensive ruins of a 14th Century Cistercian Abbey within stunning grounds and gardens along with a Retreat House which runs all manner of retreats and events. It is the diocese of Blackburn's Centre for Christian Discipleship and Prayer and offers bed & breakfast and self-catering accommodation giving visitors the opportunity to fully experience this piece of Lancashire history. Book into one of the beautiful Retreat House 17 en-suite Bed and Breakfast rooms or stay in the self-catering cottage by the river to experience the unique feeling of peace and tranquillity that Whalley Abbey offers to all its visitors. All guests are welcome to join in with the daily cycle of prayer or just spend time in the beautifully tended grounds within the ruins of the 14th century Cistercian Abbey. East Gate Lodge is a self-catering cottage set in the grounds and found down a tree lined drive. It has a cosy lounge, with a sofa bed for an extra guest or little ones and table for two with a view. Downstairs there is a full kitchen and bathroom with shower. The bedroom upstairs has a river view and a lovely wrought iron bed.
