About Bancroft Mill Engine Museum

["See the century-old, 600hp, two-cylinder Steam Engine that once powered more than 1200 cotton weaving looms, along with its 16-foot flywheel, the hand-fired boiler, a smaller 250hp engine rescued from another mill nearby, three working weaving looms and many other artefacts and memorabilia from the region's rich textile history. The museum is usually open on Saturdays from 11.00am to 4.30pm for static viewing and on Steaming Days Steaming Days","Bancroft Mill Engine Museum from 11.00am to3.45pm, when the boiler, engines and looms are in operation. Parking is free and the site is 95% accessible. Refreshments are available from 1.00pm on Steaming Days. Souvenirs, including tea towels woven at the mill, are available."]
