After opening KendalWall in 1995 we have been providing fantastic climbing experiences and facilities for 25 years, and hope to bring all this experience to our new site in Lancaster.

Whether you have never bouldered before or you are a seasoned pro, LancasterWall aims set new benchmarks in terms of accessibility, quality of climbing and standard of environment. Whether you are looking for a new way to exercise or just after a rainy day activity bouldering is the perfect choice.

About the Lakeland Climbing Centre ltd.
In 1993 three climbers met and hatched a plan to build a climbing wall. One climber had the capital, one climber had the skills to build the wall and the other had found the perfect building for the Kendal Wall, the old Milk Drying Plant in Kendal by December 1995 the doors were opened to the new Kendal Wall in December 1995.

In 1996 the Main Wall was added at a height of 18.5 m and by the late 1990’s the Kendal Wall had gained recognition for its quality of climbing and was ranked in the BMC’s top 3 in England.  For 14 years the Lakeland Climbing Centre grew steadily and developed a loyal and supportive customer base of climbers who appreciated having a major indoor climbing wall in an area of relatively low population. The Centre has also enjoyed group use from local outdoor centres as well as trade from tourists and seasonal visitors. 2014 also saw the Lakeland Climbing Centre opening a second site. VauxWall Climbing Centre a state of the art bouldering centre in London’s Zone One.  7 Years on and six new bouldering walls in London and we are turning our attention back to the North West with the opening of LancasterWall and PrestonWall. The Lakeland Climbing Centre is a company renowned for it passion for climbing and we aim to pass this on to each and every customer so they not only  have a fantastic experience but they also receive and insight into the UKs climbing culture, it’s history and ethos.

What is bouldering?
Bouldering is a fun and accessible way to start climbing and beginners can enjoy immediate success right from the moment they step on to the wall. Bouldering gives you a chance to tackle our purpose made problems while enjoying the safety provided by a crash mat. Bouldering does not require a lot of equipment and there are only a few key safety points you need to learn to get going.

Bouldering is a the perfect blend of physical and mental exercise and many people find that once they give it a go they are hooked for life. Not only does bouldering provide a unique form of exercise it also provides one of the most friendly and inclusive communities you’ll find.

Climbing is also been given a position in the 2021 Olympics with bouldering being one of the three disciplines on show, so now is the perfect time to give it a try!

How do I get started?
There are a few ways to get started with bouldering; over 18’s can watch our induction video, fill out a registration form and get climbing straight away, or for those that would like a little more input from an experienced member of staff you can book one of our Bouldering Induction Plus courses in which we will run you through everything you need to know.

For those that are under 18 you can be brought in by an experienced climber (who is over the age of 18) or attend one of our many instructed sessions.
