A hidden delight set in acres of green space, overlooking the Thursden Valley in Burnley.  Although primarily the home of HAPPA (Horses and Ponies Protection Association), the site provides everything that you would expect from a first-class award-winning tourist attraction destination.  An onsite café, called The Café @ Shores Hey Farm, serves delicious homemade food and cakes.  Keep your children entertained by playing on the outdoor park or find HAPPA Fergus on the Facts With Fergus Trail.  Open seven days a week.

The Café @ Shores Hey Farm offers everyone a warm welcome. The team are waiting to look after you, while the chefs create home cooked and freshly prepared dishes. The café also includes a private meeting space for small meetings, so talk to the team about private events.  Weekly offers include Afternoon Tea Tuesday, bookings only.  Wednesday BOGOF breakfast, BOGOF burgers.  Breakfast served seven days a week.

HAPPA Education hold a range of educational courses and demonstrations throughout the year, offering you an insight into the different equine services and horsemanship techniques available to equine enthusiasts.  Half-term educational activities for children of all ages include Own A Pony, The Beginners Guide to Horse and Pony Care and Pony Grooming Sessions.  For adults, why not join The Beginners Guide courses specially for grown-ups. 

HAPPA can host groups for a tour of the facilities or further learning associated to animal welfare through our Equine Action Team.  Got a learning objective in mind, or just need a bespoke package to deliver learning in a new environment? 

The Fussy Filly, based onsite and online, stocks a fantastic range of equine and animal related gifts for children, and a great selection of new, and second-hand, tack and equine essentials, including clothing. 

Visit the onsite Second-hand Book Room, or for younger visitors play and learn in the activity room or outdoor play-area.

Activities and events throughout the year include family fun day, novelty dog show, Halloween party and Santa visits.

Novelty Dog ShowDue to popular demand the Horses and Ponies Protection Association’s Novelty Dog Show returns.  HAPPA are appealing for canine owners to help them raise funds for the resident rescue horses by entering their canine companion in classes.
