Elswick village can be found just of the A585. Although Elswick boasts a new multi-sports area and modern recreational facilities the village’s history is still apparent in the Gothic church and spire which stand next to the original 17th Century nonconformist chapel, the oldest in Lancashire. Elswick also have two village pubs called The Boot and Shoe and The Ship Hotel. However, the village is probably best known as the home of Bond’s ice cream, which has been produced there for over fifty years.
