Bury

Bury is a busy market town just beyond the Lancashire border, closely tied to the heritage of the East Lancashire Railway. Bolton Street Station is a key focal point, with its preserved platforms, booking office and gift shop, while across the road the Bury Transport Museum is housed in a former goods warehouse, showcasing vehicles and stories from the region’s transport past.

The town itself offers plenty to see and do, with Bury Market a major draw, known for its wide range of stalls and local specialities, including the famous Bury Black Pudding. Alongside the market, you’ll find museums, galleries and theatres adding to the cultural mix, as well as shopping centres and independent stores, making Bury a popular stop for both heritage and retail.

Reach bury from Rawtenstall in Lancashire, travelling on the East Lancashire Railway line.
