Southport

Southport is a well-known seaside town just beyond the Lancashire border, offering a mix of classic coastal attractions, shopping and dining. Its long pier, one of the oldest in the country, and wide seafront provide a traditional setting, while Lord Street is lined with shops, cafés and restaurants beneath its distinctive covered walkways. The town also has a strong cultural offer, with venues such as The Atkinson hosting theatre, exhibitions and live performances throughout the year, alongside well-known dining spots including Hickory’s Smokehouse.

Its location makes Southport an easy addition to time spent in Lancashire, particularly for visitors staying in West Lancashire towns such as Ormskirk and Burscough, which are only a short drive away. The journey to the coast is straightforward, making it ideal for a day by the sea alongside time spent exploring inland market towns, countryside and nearby attractions.
