About West Lancashire Light Railway

Lancashire's only narrow gauge railway. A short 2ft-gauge passenger line situated in the village of Hesketh Bank, between Southport and Preston. Featuring locomotives, wagons and other equipment from long-gone industrial sites in Lancashire, other parts of the UK and overseas.

The Railway is open, with steam-hauled passenger trains in operation, every Sunday and Bank Holiday, from April until the end of October.

Special events are held throughout the year, including Easter egg hunts, Galas, teddy bears' outings and Santa specials. The first train starts at 11:30 and runs every 30 minutes (allowing for carriage cleaning), last train runs at 16:00. For details of special events, including Santa specials, please visit the web site.

The Waiting Room cafe is now open, with seats outside and under a canopy.
