About Weddings at Samlesbury Hall
There are wedding venues, and then there is Samlesbury Hall.
As you make your way through ancient woodland and into the grounds, the trees part to reveal your first glimpse of this extraordinary black-and-white medieval house. Set against emerald lawns and approached by a sweeping driveway, Samlesbury Hall feels like something from another time and the moment you arrive, you’ll know you’ve found somewhere truly unforgettable. Now imagine arriving on the most important day of your life.
For more than 60 years, couples have chosen Samlesbury Hall as the place to begin their forever. Today, you are invited to become part of that story.
From the moment you say yes to the moment you say I do, the team is on hand to make your wedding everything you have dreamed of and more. From the grandest details to the little touches that mean the most, the team will be by your side to help bring your vision to life. And when your wedding day arrives, the Hall and its immediate grounds are yours to enjoy exclusively.
Why spend your wedding day travelling between venues when you can have everything you need in one extraordinary place? Choose the magnificent Whittaker Room, licensed for ceremonies of up to 90 guests. With original windows from nearby Whalley Abbey, beautiful carved panelling and centuries of history woven into its walls, it provides an enchanting setting for saying I do. Once a private chapel for the families who called Samlesbury Hall home, it has been lovingly transformed into one of the Hall’s most beautiful ceremony spaces.
For larger celebrations, the Great Hall, dating back to 1325, can welcome up to 120 guests. With its soaring sense of history and unmistakable Tudor character, it is a setting that needs very little embellishment.
For something smaller and wonderfully intimate, the Parlour, with space for up to 25 guests, offers an atmosphere of warmth and romance, beneath oak-panelled ceilings and beside its spectacular Tudor fireplace.
Whatever the weather, Samlesbury Hall gives you the freedom to make your day your own, with beautiful grounds and character-filled interiors providing the perfect backdrop at every turn. While your photographer captures those once-in-a-lifetime moments, your guests can relax, mingle and raise a glass with a delicious selection of drinks and canapés.
Then comes the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Gather together in the magnificent Great Hall for your wedding breakfast, surrounded by centuries of history and the unmistakable atmosphere of Samlesbury Hall. Behind the scenes, the chefs will have been preparing your first meal as a married couple, with a passion for exceptional food and the finest ingredients. Wherever possible, produce is sourced from the Hall’s own kitchen gardens and local Lancashire producers, creating a wedding breakfast that celebrates the very best of the region.
And when dinner comes to an end, the celebrations are only just beginning. Enjoy coffee and a little time to relax in the lounge while the team transforms the Great Hall for your evening reception. Then it’s back beneath the chandeliers to dance, celebrate and make memories with the people you love most.
The licensed bar remains open until midnight, with the option to extend to 1am on request, because some nights simply deserve to go on a little longer. When the dancing finally comes to an end, retreat to the beautifully appointed Gatehouse, your own private sanctuary within the grounds. Sumptuously decorated and designed with your comfort in mind, the Gatehouse features a grand bathroom and spacious dressing room, making it the perfect place for the bride and her bridesmaids to prepare together before the celebrations begin and a wonderfully luxurious place to end the night.
But your Samlesbury Hall experience doesn’t have to end there. Just a short stroll from the Hall lies the enchanting collection of Shepherd’s Huts, nestled within a festoon-lit hamlet in the grounds. Full of character and charm, they offer your closest friends and family somewhere truly special to retreat to after a night of dancing beneath the chandeliers. Each en suite hut sleeps up to four guests, with cosy double bunk beds, crafted from beautiful European oak. With central heating for those magical winter weddings and clever natural lining to keep them cool during warmer months, they’re designed for comfort in every season.
Then, the morning after the celebrations, gather your favourite people together once more at The Garden Room Eatery for breakfast, swapping stories, reliving the best moments and raising another glass to the newlyweds.
Samlesbury Hall isn’t simply somewhere to get married. It is somewhere to arrive, celebrate, fall in love with, create memories and become part of something that has been bringing people together for generations. A place where history surrounds you, where every room tells a story and where your story becomes part of its own.
Your wedding deserves more than a beautiful backdrop. It deserves Samlesbury Hall.
