Family favourite event Picnic in the Park returns to Astley Park on Sunday 7 June 2026, this year getting into the football world cup spirit! 

From 12 noon to 4pm attendees can enjoy lots of free entertainment with an international and football theme, including great live music and stage entertainment, walkabout acts, a chance to practice football skills, arts and crafts and more! Paid activities will include facepainting and children’s fairground rides. 

All are welcome to bring a blanket, pick a spot and enjoy a picnic on the lawns in front of historic house Astley Hall. A great range of food traders will also be available to purchase from on the day, offering a delicious variety of foods, refreshments and sweet treats. 

Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader at Chorley Borough Council, said: 

“Picnic in the Park is a fantastic event that brings people of all ages together, offering a brilliant day of free entertainment.  

“With a range of activities on offer in the beautiful surroundings of Astley Park, it’s set to be a great day. It’s always wonderful to see so many families making the most of our green spaces.” 

Lots of local groups and businesses will be getting involved in the fun - visitors can expect a visit from Chorley FC mascot Victor Magpie, football skills activities with Chorley Schools Sports Partnership and much more! 

Some areas of Astley Hall Museum will be open to the public for free visits alongside the current restoration works. The Coach House Gallery and onsite businesses Cafe Ambio, Barrica Wines and the Astley Information Centre and Gift Shop will all also be open on the day.
