Fylde Ice Festival - free event
Lytham
14th February

The free Fylde Ice Festival returns for 2026!
After hugely successful events in previous years the Fylde Ice Festival will once again wow the crowds in Lytham, this time in Clifton Square. This enchanting day-long festival allows you to marvel at the breathtaking carved sculptures, try out your own sculpting skills on the ice carving wall, and watch a live ice-carving demonstration by award-winning professional ice artists and even follow an ice trail around the town, with pre-carved sculptures linked to Lytham.

Half Term at The Harris

Enjoy a week of exciting family-friendly science, creativity, and discovery at The Harris this February half-term!
These newly refurbished spaces have so much to offer, from creative chemistry and LEGO workshops to animal encounters and Planetariums, there is something to keep every age entertained.
What's more, The Harris is one of 40 museums which has teamed up with Hatchette Children’s Books to create a fun, free museum and gallery trail for children. Children age 9+ are invited to see the artwork in a whole new light as they unlock a creative mission designed to help them chat and look at artwork in fun new ways. Every completed activity sheet will result in an Art School sticker, and there’s a drawing competition too.

Mudfest 2026

Get stuck in with a mud obstacle course, wild crafts, and mud kitchen. With hands-on activities for all ages and abilities, everyone can connect with nature and discover the magical powers of mud for wildlife and play. After all, it's the stuff wetlands (and great family adventures) are made of.
Go mad for mud activities: Jump, climb and scramble your way through a mud-tastic obstacle course or visit the craft room for some clay modelling where you can create a worm or make seed bombs. Cook up some delicious muddy meals in the mud kitchen or see what sculptures you can make out of mud. Can you make an otter, or maybe a mallard?
There’s a fantastic day ahead of you at Martin Mere Wetland Centre, getting up-close-and-personal with some of nature’s most wonderful wildlife in the 800 acres of adventure which is home to thousands of rare birds; a cheeky family of otters; an all-star cast of pretty pink flamingos and a group of white storks to mention just a few. 

Enchanted Realms Week

Join the Witch of Samlesbury Hall for a fun, interactive experience this half term.
Learn all about the witch’s life story in the Great Hall, as a roaring fire casts flickering light on her magic cauldron, then discover how herbs and simple everyday items were used to create charms and magic potions in the past. Using ingredients supplied, each child can make a magic spell to take home with them.
In addition to this exciting 30 minute activity, you can enjoy entry to the Hall and grounds after the event for free – why not discover the spooky Witch’s Garret, Ghost Room, or explore the Mayflower play area?
Delicious lunches can be booked in The Garden Room Eatery, or tea, coffee, cakes and ice-cream can be enjoyed in Maria’s Tea Room.

Railway Family Fun Day – Free Event
Clitheroe Castle, Clitheroe
16th February

Clitheroe Castle Museum is teaming up with Community Rail Lancashire to mark 200 years of the modern railway with a free, action‑packed family day—bursting with hands‑on fun, creative activities and immersive railway heritage.
Head along to the castle to enjoy a working 'Rock and Roll' model railway with Pendle Forest Model Railway Club, meet Lancashire children's author Susan Brownrigg who will read extracts from her award-winning book, Wrong Tracks.  Join in with a train spotting game and prizes, hop on the Imagination Train with community artist Gosha Gibek and decorate your own train wagon using paints, collage materials and stickers or, why not try your hand at the fun process of Cyanotype & Linocut Printing with artist and railway enthusiast Dianne Muldowney? There’s so much to do! Children will also be invited to take part in a colouring competition illustrated by local artist Jenny Czerwonka, with the winner receiving a Family Weekend Explorer train ticket courtesy of Northern.
In addition, you can enjoy the "Tracks of Life: Trains, People and Places" exhibition, celebrating the life and work of Ken Roberts (1928–2024), a talented and dedicated local railway enthusiast and photographer.

February Festival
Blackpool

A festival of circus, live entertainment and fun for all the family. Cutting-edge street acts, mind-blowing magic tricks and a jam packed four days of surprises round every corner await in Blackpool this half term. Amongst an array of live performances and workshops, day one sees Elton Wrong roaming the town centre with his mobile white piano, belting out classics and bringing his own brand of popstar madness – you won't be able to miss him. Nor the electric tricycles with pop-up puppet stages from A La Puppet Carte, telling tales of a magic samovar, an exuberant gardener and her very hungry chicken. 
Over the next few days witness magic from 'The People's Magician' Sam Hogarth, who has honed his craft over 20 years and taken his shows around the globe; with more magic from Harry Moulding, fresh from last year's Royal Variety Performance and his win on Britain's Got Talent. There'll also be dry-land synchronised swimming from Dutch sensations The Van Dunk Brothers; Paris Bubbles from Ray Bubbles, International Bubbleologist and Guinness World Record Holder; Ballerinas Fifi Pavlova and Dame Margot Fondue, taking their love of dance to the streets – and that's just a taste of the fabulous acts, shows and things to see and do in Blackpool this half term.

Snowdrop Sundays
Bank Hall, Leyland
Sundays throughout February

The grounds of Bank Hall are transformed every February into a magical world of snowdrops, in a display that is not to be missed! This year the team are celebrating 25 years of Snowdrop Sundays, making it an ideal time to visit. Head along to the stunning attraction every Sunday in February and enjoy the serenity that comes with huge swathes of these gorgeous white flowers and enjoy the new for 2026 Winter Fairy Trail. Find the fairies in their winter wonderland amongst the carpets of wonderful white snowdrops, grab some refreshments and enjoy this fantastic family friendly event. The newly refurbished Prospect Tower will also be open for tours. This event is dog friendly.
