Ormskirk is a historic market town at the heart of West Lancashire, known for its long-standing market tradition and compact, walkable centre. The market has been a feature here since 1286 and still takes place every Thursday and Saturday, filling the town with stalls offering everything from fresh produce and baked goods to clothing, gifts and household items. Around the market, a mix of independent retailers, high street names, cafés and pubs means there's plenty to explore.
The town’s history is reflected in its landmarks, including Ormskirk Parish Church, one of only a handful in the country with both a tower and a spire, and the distinctive Clock Tower in the centre. Just beyond the town centre, Coronation Park offers landscaped gardens, a bandstand and a programme of seasonal events, while the popular Ormskirk Gingerbread Festival brings the town together each summer with market stalls, entertainment and community celebrations.
