About Botanical Bas-Relief Plaques Workshop - Holden Clough Nurseries
Friday 19th March, 10.30am - 15.30pm
A lovely creative way to start the weekend. Come with friends, family, or by yourself. Bring flowers from your garden and create two beautiful plaques.
Come along and enjoy this experimental course where you will learn the various steps to making your own bas relief flower and nature plaster cast relief plaques. A lovely and creative way to start the weekend with friends or family members.
The course will cover rolling out the clay, designing and arranging the flowers and creating your own layout for the casting process. The fresh flowers and foliage are pressed into wet clay, before plaster is poured in and given time to set. When the mould is removed, every detail is captured. After carefully hand finishing, they can be painted or left natural.
We create 2 plaques; one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Plaques are approx. 7.5 x 5.5 inches. There is also the option to add hanging hooks or leave blank, creating beautiful botanical pieces of art for your home or a gift.
There will be flowers and foliage for you to choose from however I do ask you bring a very small bunch of fresh flowers/herbs/leaves/wildflowers/grasses from your garden or collected on your favourite walk, as it is always lovely to make a cast unique to you.
Please bring an apron and wear clothes that you don't mind getting messy. If you wear glasses, please remember these.
The price of the workshop includes all materials apart from the small bunch of fresh seasonal flowers foliage I ask you to bring with you. Please see photos for foliage flower inspiration.
About the host...
My passion for nature and flora was ignited when I moved to Ilkley, in the foothills of the Yorkshire Dales, just over 19 years ago. The amazing countryside and hedgerows inspire me to create artwork I am thrilled to be able to share with you.
I have always loved art, and having studied Art & Design at College and completed a degree in Art and Textiles, I now feel both humble and fortunate to be able to pursue my dream job.
