The Bay Horse, as it is known today, was constructed in 1899 during the reign of Queen Victoria, replacing the original Elizabethan farmhouse. So for over 120 years, the Bay Horse has been right at the heart of the village. An imposing building, it is a wonderful example of Victorian architecture and displays some of the architectural refinement and decoration that had become common during this period around the 1870s. The Bay Horse is only a short wander from the hills and valleys which inspired the Bronte sisters, with miles of hiking, bike and horse riding trails to choose from.
