What's on this weekend 14th to 16th August
Another great weekend of fun awaits in Lancashire this week! From celebrating the 1940s to the heritage of one of Lancashire's most famous fishing ports, through to monsters and fire feasts, there is something for everyone. 14th to 16th August – Fleetwood Food, Fish and Music Festival
A brand-new festival is coming to Fleetwood this summer. This three-day festival will celebrate the town's coastal heritage, its fishing past and showcase the people and businesses that continue to play their part in the town's rich maritime legacy.
With something for everyone, the festival will also offer a family friendly programme of entertainment. Visitors can enjoy live cooking demonstration, continental market, fresh fish and seafood stalls and a traditional funfair, with live music throughout the weekend. The Friday will see the return of the Fish Queen Competition, not held since 1939, where a Fish King or Queen will be crowned.
14th August – Meet the Servants at the Judges Lodgings Museum
Ever imagine life as a Victorian servant? Now you can try it out for real! Meet the Judges Lodgings housemaid and help take on the job of doing the laundry in the museum's newly restored servant's yard and washhouse. From the copper to the dolly tub, rinsing and pegging out on the line, be prepared to use some 'elbow grease' as you experience life in the Judges' Lodgings before piped water or electricity.
15th to 16th August – Lytham 1940s Weekend
The 15th annual Lytham 1940s weekend is here! Head along to Lytham Green which will be transformed into a vintage wonderland. With music, dance, military vehicles, static aircraft and so much more to see and get involved in, it’s a wonderful way to spend the weekend.
The full line-up includes entertainment from The Bluebirds, a Winston Churchill impersonator, Lancashire Belle, Johnny Victory and there will be opportunities to get your dancing shoes on with outdoor dancing and learn to dance sessions on the Mussell Tank. In addition to the activities on the green there will be venues around Lytham offering 1940s style entertainment during the weekend.
15th August – Meet the Monsters at Affinity Lancashire
This week Affinity is home to the Monsters Maze Quest, with free activity sheet and maze to embark upon, it'll be loads of fun for the little ones as you grab those back to school supplies. As part of the week, this Saturday the outlet centre will host a Meet the Monsters Day with Monsters stomping across the centre from 12 til 3 pm, don't miss your chance to meet them, grab a photo and take part in some monster face painting too!
15th August – Circus Skills at the Whitaker Museum
Roll up, roll up, the circus is coming to town! Join Circus with Sarah at The Whitaker and step into magic with this lively, family friendly workshop bursting with excitement, and plenty of chances to shine. Perfect for children, grown-ups, and everyone in between, you will learn how to spin plates like a pro, keep the juggling balls flying, test your balance, and discover surprises around every corner. Whether you're dreaming of the big top or simply looking for a joyful way to spend time together as a family, this is your invitation to play, learn, and let your inner performer sparkle.
15th August – Fire Feast Night at Longridge House
One for the adults, Longridge House is delivering a third Fire Feast Night which shouldn’t be missed! This is a feast made for sharing, with eight dishes cooked over fire, set in the beautiful gardens at Longridge House. Good food, open fire cooking and a relaxed evening in the Ribble Valley. The evening begins with a Malfy G&T, then gets going as the outdoor kitchen comes to life. Fires are lit, the rotisserie turns, and each course is cooked outside and served across the night. Porchetta cooked over the flames, rotisserie chicken with piri piri, and salmon finished on the grill with a miso glaze. There will be live acoustic music and a relaxed pace, so you can settle in and enjoy your feast as the night unfolds. When it cools off, blankets and firepits will keep you warm, so you can stay settled and enjoy a little longer.
