Win 4 tickets to WWT Martin Mere
WWT Martin Mere is celebrating the arrival of tens of thousands of pink-footed geese with its first-ever Goosefest. As part of this, the wetland centre is teaming up with Visit Lancashire to give one lucky winner the chance to win four tickets to bring along friends or family.
The tickets will be valid for 12 months, meaning you could use your tickets to experience Goosefest this autumn, or save them for another visit later in the year.
Goosefest 2026
This autumn, WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre in Burscough invites visitors to witness one of the UK’s most breathtaking wildlife spectacles as its brand-new Goosefest runs from 5 September to 18 October 2026.
The festival celebrates the seasonal arrival of tens of thousands of pink-footed geese migrating from Greenland and Iceland. Throughout Goosefest, visitors can enjoy a month-long programme of events, activities and experiences celebrating these incredible birds and the wider wetland wildlife that calls Martin Mere home.
At peak times, visitors can see flocks of up to 45,000 pink-footed geese filling the skies, creating one of autumn’s most spectacular wildlife experiences.
There’s something for all ages and interests, from dawn viewings and family-friendly trails to hands-on workshops and opportunities to learn more about these incredible migratory birds.
And while the pink-footed geese are the stars of the show, there’s plenty more wildlife to discover. Look out for species including pintail, shelduck, shoveler, wigeon and teal, followed later in the autumn by another seasonal favourite, the magnificent whooper swan.
The celebration concludes with WWT Martin Mere’s annual North West Bird Watching Festival on 17 and 18 October. The weekend will feature a fantastic programme of guest speakers, including biologist and conservationist Sacha Dench and naturalist Lucy Lapwing, alongside a range of exhibitors and nature-focused activities.
Visitors can also take part in experiences including Sony Alpha Wildlife Walks, bird ringing demonstrations and guided boat tours, sponsored by Sony.
