The Palace Cinema
The Palace is one of the oldest surviving traditional single screen cinemas in the North West of England. The building was constructed in the 1860s as a weaving shed and was then converted into a music hall, cinema, roller skating rink and bingo hall before returning to its present use as a cinema showing the latest blockbuster releases and a theatre.

The Palace is now equipped with Christie Digital and Cinemeccanica 35mm projection equipment, a Dolby Digital sound processing system, QSC Audio amplifiers and JBL/Behringer loudspeakers and for added comfort, there are even double seats available at the rear of the auditorium.

Before each showing the National Anthem is played and ice cream is served at intervals. There is also cold drinks, sweet popcorn and a range of sweets available with prices ranging from 35p for sweets and between 75p-£3.00 for popcorn which is available in the foyer along with tea, coffee and hot chocolate which are all served in ‘proper’ mugs and priced at just 50p !!

Films are updated weekly.
