The Hollins Hill Household
About The Hollins Hill Household
Discover the servants at Hollins Hill House and immerse yourselves looking after Anne and William Haworth and their country style Arts and Crafts House. Have fun interacting with servants, playing traditional games and dressing up in period clothes.
Heritage Open Day at Haworth Art Gallery is a FREE, fun and accessible day for all of the family. Go back in time and join in with the Haworth team to immerse yourselves in the world of the servants who worked here when it was a home to Anne and William Haworth.
In partnership with the Friends of Haworth Art Gallery find out about the jobs the servants did, the fun they had in their time off and about where they lived.
Meet the Servants
Learn about Joseph Taylor the chauffeur, how he drove the family around, how he trained with Rolls Royce to be able to maintain the rather grand Rolls Royce Silver Ghost and in his spare time played Billiards with William.
Step into Ellen Priestley's shoes as Anne's companion organising the house, accompanying the Haworths on their travels across the world and taking care of Anne when she was ill.
Step into their World
Meet all of the servants and ask them what is involved in being a servant? You may be surprised at what Anne and William did for their servants.
Family Fun
In addition play traditional Edwardian games with the family, visit our Dressing Up Station to dress up in period costume and take a selfie, blow the biggest bubbles ever and tell stories with our finger puppets. We can't wait to see you all.
