Local Writer's Night - Burnley Mechanics

Our Local Writers Night, ran in partnership with Burnley Words Festival, is a warm, welcoming evening of live writing, open to both performers and audiences.

Across the night, writers share short readings of poetry, spoken word and prose, with each performer taking the stage for around five minutes. The event is fast-paced, varied and supportive, making it just as enjoyable to watch as it is to take part.

Want to perform?

Performance slots are booked in advance via a simple sign-up form. We aim to make space for as many people as possible, and everyone gets an equal slot on the night. Whether it’s your first time reading in public or you’re an experienced writer trying out new work, you’re very welcome.

Spaces can fill up, so a waiting list may operate, and performers are usually confirmed around two weeks before the event.
