What's on this weekend 21st to 23rd August

The summer holidays are in full swing, and if you are tired of doing the same things to keep the kids entertained, why not shake things up a bit over the weekend with some of Lancashire's great events.

Until 23rd August - Robin Hood, Lancaster

It’s the final weekend of The Dukes Park Show Robin Hood! Don't miss out, grab a ticket today and follow Robin and his merry men through the beautiful surroundings of Williamson Park in Lancaster. Expect laughs, love and beautiful sunsets as the curtains fall on the UKs longest running Promenade Theatre Show

21st – 23rd August - Alice in Wonderland at Lowther Gardens, Lytham
Step into a world of wonder as Alice in Wonderland comes to life through the medium of dance in another great promenade theatre experience.
As you move through the park alongside Alice you can encounter familiar characters, unexpected adventures, and imaginative choreography inspired by Lewis Carroll’s timeless tale. The show makes for an unforgettable afternoon of dance, storytelling, and adventure. Bring a picnic meet the characters and enjoy the beautiful Lowther gardens at their best.

22nd and 23rd August - Summer events at East Lancashire Railway 

This weekend there's something for everyone as the summer of fun continues at East Lancashire Railway. Two great events are taking place with some of the most popular characters for kids. On Saturday every toddler's favourite cheeky piggy, Peppa Pig will be in attendance at The Bury Transport Museum. Pre-book your general admission ticket and pick a meet and greet slot, then spend the day riding the fun fair, joining in the craft activities and getting the kids face painted before exploring the museum.

Then on Sunday you can fall down the Rabbit Hole with a Travel to Wonderland event. Follow Alice and her friends thought the Irwell Valley on a two-hour heritage train experience for all the family, complete with colourful characters, themed activities and plenty of great photo opportunities.

23rd August – A Day of Knights with the Silver School of Arms at Clitheroe Castle 

An action-packed day of Knights awaits at Clitheroe Castle this Sunday. Join the Silver School of Arms, a historical European martial arts group, at the castle as they wow the crowds with displays of sword fighting, weapons handling and medieval combat throughout the day. A fantastic free day out for all the family, there will also be opportunity to enjoy the castle museum and grounds too to discover 350 million years of local history.

23rd August – Heskin Alternative Market 

The ever-popular market from Green Potion Events is taking place one again at Heskin Hall this Sunday. With stalls from a range of specialists in gothica, horror, the strange and the beautiful, it's a great afternoon out for those looking for something a little different.
