Whalley Artisan Market celebrates Craft, Culture and community in full bloom

Whalley village was transformed last Sunday as the Artisan Market returned with a lively display of imagination, skill and local connection at its core.

From the outset, stallholders arranged their displays with care, presenting handmade pieces, independent designs and small batch creations that reflected individuality and thoughtful making. Visitors wandered through at an unhurried pace, engaging with makers, exploring distinctive finds and enjoying the easy rhythm that has become synonymous with the event.

Throughout the day, a strong sense of togetherness ran through the village centre. Families, friends and guests from surrounding areas contributed to a welcoming atmosphere where conversation, curiosity and support for independent traders blended naturally.

A highlight came courtesy of Brother Bastion, whose live performance added depth and character to the occasion. His music carried across the market space, inviting moments of pause and giving the afternoon an added layer of warmth and presence.

Laura E Johnson, co founder of Whalley Artisan Market, said
“We are absolutely delighted with how the day unfolded. The village felt open, inclusive and genuinely supportive of everyone involved. It is exactly the kind of environment we set out to create.”

Several Whalley shops also opened their doors on Sunday in support of the event, adding to the footfall and creating an even stronger sense of a united high street experience. Their participation helped extend the market feel beyond the stalls and into the wider village, strengthening the connection between independent retail and community activity.

Organisers have extended gratitude to all traders, performers, participating businesses and attendees whose involvement shaped the success of the event. The market continues to establish itself as a meaningful fixture in the local calendar, offering a platform for independent creativity alongside shared community experience.

The next Whalley Artisan Market will take place on Saturday 27th June, returning for its monthly gathering that celebrates local talent, creative expression and village connection.
