Egg rolling, Easter bunnies and even dragons make up some of the fantastic events planned, and best of all, lots of these events are free to attend, making them the perfect budget friendly day out.

Gozzle
WWT Martin Mere

This spring, Martin Mere are teaming up with Macmillan Children’s Books to explore the wonderful world of wetlands with Gozzle the gosling, from Julia Donaldson and Sara Ogilvie’s freshly hatched picture book. With outdoor adventures, special activities, storytelling sessions and more.
Follow the interactive trail to discover what it takes for your fuzzy little friend to become a grown-up goose. Along the way, you’ll strike some funny animal poses, hop along stepping stones to practice your balance, seek out a meal using your sense of smell and keep your eyes peeled for the 15 mini Gozzle's hiding along the route. Can you spot them all?
Egg-Venture – a Chocolate Mad Adventure
Thornton Hall Country Park
28th March - 6th April
Embark on a chocolate-filled, interactive adventure at Thornton Hall Country Park as you immerse yourself in an EGGventure experience through the history of chocolate. Enjoy a tour of Bazil Beanz chocolate factory to tantalise your tastebuds! This 40-minute EGGventure will see you helping the factory production get back on track and you will receive your own chocolate bar to take home. Before you head to the Springtime Trail, meet Easter Bunny and discover all the other wonderful things Thornton Hall has to offer.
Please note – pre-booking is essential for this. This is a live theatrical experience with actors, featuring special effects, including loud noises, theatrical smoke, scents and flashing lights. If you or anyone in your party has any additional requirements or allergies, please inform the attraction host before entering the experience.
Easter at Ribby Hall Village

There's lots planned at Ribby Hall Village this Easter including The Big Easter Hunt, a true family favourite where you can hunt for golden eggs hidden around the village and The Great Ribby Duck Race which will be returning. Guests can join Dizzy the Duck at The Island and watch as the ducks compete and race to the finish line. That's not all there is a series of great events including Easter Shows and Easter themed arts and crafts workshops throughout the holidays.
Free Family fun and animal adventures

Family fun and animal adventures await you this Easter at Affinity Lancashire, and best of all it's all FREE! From Farmyard Trails to character meet and greets and easter craft workshops, there's something for everybody to enjoy. Including visiting farmyard animals who will be bringing some Farmyard Fun to the centre between the 7th and 9th April. As well as adding some fun to this year's Affinity's Easter Egg Hunt which will be taking place on 4th April.

Join the Dragon Master and his lovable pet dragon Gilbert for a mythical experience at Samlesbury Hall this spring! Dragon EGGventure is more than a simple egg hunt; it’s a quest to re-discover the lost stories of magical creatures from the legends of Britain. Explore the hall and grounds to follow the quest, you might even find some treasure. With live action puppetry, in a medieval manor, join in and seek eggs at Samlesbury Hall this Easter.

Head to Penny Farm for an Easter Eggstravangaza, embark on a series of great trails which includes quizzes and crafts and of course lots of opportunities to meet the horses and ponies. After finishing be sure to check out the lovely coffee shop onsite and enjoy a light lunch, or homemade cake.
Easter Surprise 2026
Lowther Pavilion & Gardens

Celebrate the Easter weekend with a host of fun and games in Lowther Pavilion. This free to enter Easter Surprise event will include theatre performances, live music, creative crafts and more. With plenty of food and drink stalls, fun fair rides and characters doing the rounds, guests can expect to spend a few hours in the historic Lowther Gardens over the weekend.

Egg Rolling at Avenham Park

Enjoy an age-old Easter tradition! This Preston staple goes back more than 150 years, and you can’t beat egg-rolling on Easter Monday. Fun for all the family, Avenham and Miller Parks will host workshops, street theatre and live music to celebrate Easter. Be sure to bring your own Easter eggs and roll them down the hill along with hundreds of others in this weird and wonderful Preston tradition.
Egg rolls take place on the hour throughout the day from 11am until 4pm. Plucky the Giant Hen will be out for photo opportunities, there will be Easter bonnet workshops which will culminate in the Best Bonnet in Show, plus food and drink stalls, children's entertainment and more.
