One Voice Choir to sing for supper with a Soul Food Festival
Audience donations of tinned and dried food will be accepted as admission to special charity concert taking please this weekend Saturday 25th July as part of the MET programme of entertainment which launched in Preston this weekend.
The One Voice Choir, a Preston based group, is inviting local music lovers to enjoy an evening of live entertainment while helping families in need this summer.
More than 40 singers from the One Voice Community Choir will take to the stage at The MET, in the St Bernard's Community Hub car park, on Saturday 25 July at 7pm, for a special concert in aid of the city's food banks.
Admission to the event is by way of a food donation to the value of £7.50, with every item collected going directly to ten different food banks across Preston.
One Voice Community Choir has built a reputation for its ongoing support of food banks in the city and this concert continues that commitment. Organisations set to benefit from the donations collected on the night include Ashton Food Aid, Kingdom of Life, The Foxton Centre, Farringdon Park Community Centre, Recycling Lives, Preston Promise, Church of Ascension, Renew Wellness Centre, Metania Project and Larches Lifeline.
Audiences are being asked to bring ambient, tinned and dried foods such as tinned meat, fish and vegetables, pasta, rice, cereals, sauces and other cupboard essentials with a good remaining shelf life.
Emma Caffrey, MET Co-ordinator, said: "This concert is all about giving something back to those in our community who need it most, while offering everyone a a brilliantly uplifting night of entertainment. We'd love as many people as possible to come along, enjoy the music, and give generously if they can."
The food donated by the audience will be quickly distributed across local food banks to assist families in immediate need.
The concert will also feature New Roots Choir, featuring people from all over the world who have settled in Preston and the surrounding areas, adding to what promises to be a memorable evening of community spirit and song.
Tickets are free but must be booked in advance via Eventbrite to reserve a seat.
Audience members are asked to bring their food donations with them on the evening.
