Celebrity Traitors is back and will no doubt once again be the talking point of every conversation, from the office to family catchups, and dinner with friends, get ready for it to once again takeover!
One of the most iconic parts of the show is the grand castle and scenery which really needs little introduction. But it's not just the Scottish Highlands that are home to beautiful scenery and castles – Lancashire has its fair share too!
We've pulled together a list of places that make you feel like you've stepped straight onto the traitors set.
Starting strong with Lancaster Castle, which is owned by His Majesty the King and described as one of the North of England's most magnificent and important historic monuments. The site was fortified by the Romans, rebuilt by the Normans and extended in the Georgian era. Today, the castle offers some spectacular views – giving the Scottish Highlands a run for there money if we do say so ourselves. Welcoming visitors of all ages, Lancaster Castle offers the opportunity for you to dive deep into England's dark past with the popular guided tours.
That's not all, the castle is also home to a Police Museum, Witches' Exhibition and even the popular Atkinsons Coffee shop.
The magnificent grounds of Hoghton Tower really do speak for themselves. Although this isn’t a castle, the steep 0.75-mile-long driveway up to the tower is just like the ones the contestants take in those early scenes as they arrive at the castle. But that's not the only comparison, the beautiful gardens and underground passages and dungeons really do mirror the energy of that famous Scottish castle. The 16th Century Elizabethan fortified manor-house has been a part of Lancashire's landscape since 1565. There's so much to do at Hoghton Tower these days, whether it's the monthly farmers' markets or learning about the history of the house in guided tours.
Mitton Hall is a stunning country house located on the banks of the River Ribble. With a combination of timeless architecture, stunning views and relaxed luxury, it marks the perfect setting for celebrations, get togethers and overnight breaks. The 15th Century manor house has been beautifully restored and has been captivating guests for over 550 years. Just like the Traitors Castle, Mitton Hall is home to The Great Hall, a space that has been so perfectly designed it really does speak for itself. The dark wooden paneling, which you can find throughout the hall, is a great comparison to the all important round table room.
Another magnificent historic house in Lancashire is Towneley Hall which has recently undergone huge renovation. Home to an art gallery, museum and set in over 400 acres of historic parkland – it really is a breathtaking place to visit. With the small formal gardens, and grand period rooms with original 19th-century paintings, Towneley Hall really does capture the spirit of the show.
With panoramic views across the Ribble Valley, Clitheroe Castle has dominated the skyline for over 800 years. The Norman keep was built in 1186 and is alleged to be the second smallest in England. Beyond the castle walls, visitors will find a museum and gift shop, making it an ideal trip for all the family. The award-winning museum tells the story of the town, the formation of the landscape 350 million years ago and why the Ribble Valley is a haven for Lancashire's wildlife. Although not a complete castle, it is fun to imagine how it may have looked in all its Traitors style grandeur.
