Kids to travel for free on Blackpool buses in August

The school holidays are here, and Blackpool Transport is offering the youngsters the chance to travel for free on its buses as part of a wider government initiative to help families save cash over the summer.

During August, 5 to 15-year-olds won’t have to pay for a ticket as part of the Great British Summer Savings scheme, which is being rolled out across the country.

On the Fylde coast, it means that families can cut the cost of a day out or a visit to one of the area’s many attractions.

Lea Harrison, Blackpool Transport’s Managing Director, explained: “We are delighted to be participating in this scheme, which is particularly welcome as many families are struggling with the cost of living.

“We already offer free travel to under-fives, but extending this offer to other school-age children will help families save a few pounds that they can spend on a few well-earned treats while they’re out and about over the summer.”

Grownups too can enjoy savings thanks to some other great ticket offers from Blackpool Transport, whatever the time of year, with the operator’s duo ticket offering two people a day of unlimited bus or tram travel for just a tenner.

While the Kids Travel Free initiative applies to buses only, families who would rather take the tram can also save by taking advantage of another great group ticket offer.

With the £15 Family Saver ticket, two adults and up to three children under the age of 16 can enjoy a day of unlimited trips on Blackpool Transport’s trams and buses.
