Grand Summer savings for Surinderella!

You shall go to the Bollywood ball!

It’s a fun-packed family night out of sequins, sass and spectacular Summer Savings at Blackpool Grand Theatre this September with £50 FAMILY TICKETS now up for grabs for the sparkling South Asian fairytale SURINDERELLA.

The Grand Theatre is celebrating the Government’s glorious new Great British Summer Savings initiative by offering a family ticket for four at just £50 and children’s tickets at £10 for this glittering South Asian twist on the classic rags to riches Cinderella story, which will twirl into Blackpool from Tuesday 22 September to Saturday 26 September.

Surinderella is packed with dazzling dance numbers, colourful costumes, heartwarming romance and lots of comedy chaos and stars Sonya Venugopal from the smash-hit Broadway musical Life of Pi as the sweet Surinder, alongside Harpz Kauer (BBC’s Saturday Mash-Up!, BBC Asian Network) as the fabulous Devi Godmother with bags of bhangra attitude and Andy Kumar (Bigg Boss, India’s Got Talent) as the wonderfully wicked stepsister Lovely.

The Great British Summer Savings scheme is a UK Government initiative intended to encourage spending across live entertainment, hospitality and visitor attractions by reducing VAT on family and children’s tickets. Alongside this reduction, children aged five to 15 in England will also benefit from free local bus travel throughout August, further reducing the cost of family outings!

Blackpool Grand Theatre Head of Audience, Marketing and Sales, Andrew Howard, said: “Live theatre should be something everyone can enjoy, and we’re delighted to offer families the chance to all see Surinderella together for just £50. It’s a brilliantly bold, funny and feel-good show, and we want as many families as possible to experience the exciting energy of a Bollywood spectacular live on our stage for the very first time. There’s never been a better time to book a family night out at the Grand!”

Whether you’re a Bollywood superfan or simply looking for a night out filled with laughter, love and larger-than-life fun; Surinderella is a magical musical extravaganza that’s guaranteed to have audiences saying “wah wah!” from beginning to end.

Written by acclaimed director and playwright Pravesh Kumar MBE (Gods on Mountains, Little English) and presented by Rifco Theatre Company in association with Belgrade Theatre Coventry and Imagine Theatre; Surinderella tells the captivating tale of The Bolly-woods, where the naach is non-stop, the drama is bigger than your aunties and the romance is straight out of a filmi blockbuster.

The magical story follows the sweet yet spirited Surinder (Sonya Venugopal) who is stuck under a never ending mountain of chores thanks to her selfie-obsessed, Insta-vlogging stepsisters, Lovely (Andy Kumar) and Bubbly (Raheem Payne AKA Dosa Cat). Her only real ally is Basanti, a talking cow with more attitude than your average desi aunty. But when she crosses paths with Prince Kavi (Rory Dulku) and the ever-optimistic Babloo (Dhruv Ravi), Surinder’s world is turned upside down.

Add in the fabulous Devi Godmother (TV & radio star Harpz Kaur making her dazzling stage debut) arriving in full-on glam mode with magic, makeovers and plenty of masala moves, and the result is a whirlwind of mischief, mayhem and romance before the final slipper finds its match!

Pravesh Kumar MBE, Artistic Director of Rifco Theatre Company, said: “We’ve always loved the ingredients of pantomime – the humour, music and pure spectacle – so with Surinderella we’ve added our own masala to the mix. For many British South Asian audiences, it hasn’t always been a tradition they felt connected to, so this is about opening the door wider, introducing new audiences, and celebrating a much loved British artform in a way that reflects modern Britain.”

Ameet Chana, Director of Surinderella, added: “Surinderella is a massive celebration of family, community, and pure theatrical magic. This is a fun-for-all Desi panto built for every kind of day or night out. Whether you’re planning a day out with the kids, a big girls' night out with bubbles, or arriving with a full Desi entourage with the whole family and your Massis' in tow, you're in for an unforgettable experience. Grab your crew and book your tickets now before the clock strikes midnight!"
