From flowers to family fun, Chorley Flower Show returns

Think Chorley Flower Show is just for gardening enthusiasts and flower fanatics? Think again.

Taking place from Friday 31 July to Sunday 2 August in Astley Park, this year’s event is bursting with entertainment for the whole family, alongside the horticultural highlights visitors know and love.

Fabulous special guests and expert advice

Familiar faces will be appearing and sharing their top tips during the weekend, including Charlie Dimmock (Saturday 1 August), David Domoney (Sunday 2 August), Rita Millat (Friday 31 July and Sunday 2 August), Jonathan Moseley, Martin and Jill Fish (all three days). BBC Radio Lancashire’s Sharon Hartley will also broadcast live from the show on Friday 31 July.

Entertainment

The Family Fun Zone will be packed with free activities from show partners Chorley FC Community Foundation and the Anderton Centre, including football, dance, crafts, climbing, archery and axe throwing. 
Visitors can also enjoy rides, face painting, glitter tattoos and crafts (fees apply to some activities).

Local group The Red Barrows will be reuniting to perform at Chorley Flower Show (Friday 31 July, 12 noon), following a campaign by BBC Radio Lancashire’s Graham Liver to get the group back together.

Four-legged visitors can also get involved, with dog agility activities by Chorley Dog Agility Club, and Cats Dog Photography 

If you love live music and dancing, then the show’s entertainment stage, and dance floor are for you!

Show gardens and floral displays

Explore stunning professional show gardens, alongside gardens created from the winning and runner-up entries in the Children’s Design a Garden competition. The show will also feature its first professional florist competition, with local florists competing for the title of Chorley Flower Show’s Florist of the Year.

The popular community and school garden competitions, sponsored by Eric Wright Construction, return with more than 20 mini gardens on display.

Inside Astley Hall’s Great Hall, visitors can admire floral installations by Rita Millat, finalist on BBC Interior Design Masters Series 6.

Over in the Bloomin’ Big Marquee (sponsored by Booths), amateur competition entries will be on display, from floral art to flower, fruit and veg!

Food, Drink and Shopping

When it comes to delicious food and drink, visitors will be spoilt for choice, from a Pimm’s Hot Air Balloon Bar and Texas BBQ to sweet treats and artisan produce. Astley Park’s year-round favourites Café Ambio and Barrica in the Park will also be open. 
There will be lots of opportunities for a spot of retail therapy too, with a variety of trade stalls.

Tickets are on sale now at chorleyflowershow.com/tickets or from Astley Hall Gift Shop, Ebb & Flo Bookshop on St Thomas’s Road and Chorley Theatre - opening hours can be found on the Chorley Flower Show website. Children under 16 go free! Visitors can also pay on the day.

Getting to Chorley Flower Show

The show’s Park and Ride service will operate from the car parks at Park Hall Hotel in Charnock Richard (with a small fee for the bus - children go free). The service will not operate from Botany Bay this year.
