Free Family-friendly parks events return to Hyndburn for Fifth Summer of Fun

Families across Hyndburn are invited to enjoy another summer of free outdoor fun as the popular Let's Move Hyndburn Parks Events return for a fifth consecutive year.

Organised by Hyndburn Borough Council as part of the Let's Move Hyndburn initiative, the annual programme encourages residents to get active, spend time in nature and discover some of the borough's fantastic parks and green spaces. The events have become a firm fixture in the summer calendar, attracting hundreds of people each year and offering something for all ages to enjoy.

The first event takes place on Friday 31st July at Mercer Park, Clayton-le-Moors, from 11am to 3pm. Visitors can enjoy a packed programme of free activities including inflatable shoot-out sports, a climbing wall, archery, nature walks, gardening activities, yoga in the park, tennis, cricket sessions, dance activities and more.

The first event also supports Love Parks Week, the national celebration of the UK's parks and green spaces, highlighting the important role they play in supporting physical and mental wellbeing, bringing communities together and providing opportunities for recreation, play and wildlife.

Cllr Munsif Dad, Leader of the Council, said:

“Our parks are some of Hyndburn's greatest community assets, and these events are a fantastic way of bringing people together to enjoy everything they have to offer. It's wonderful to see families making memories outdoors, children trying new activities and residents of all ages enjoying the benefits of being active in our beautiful green spaces. We're delighted to be bringing these popular events back for a fifth year and look forward to welcoming everyone along this summer.”

The summer programme continues at Milnshaw Park, Accrington on Friday 14 August, before concluding at Lowerfold Park, Great Harwood on Friday 28 August, with each event running from 11am until 3pm.

Cllr Munsif Dad continued:

‘’Let's Move Hyndburn is committed to creating opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy movement in their everyday lives, and summer is the perfect time to get involved. Whether you're trying a new sport, joining a nature walk, or simply spending time with family and friends in one of our parks, these events are all about making activity fun, accessible and inclusive. “
