Enjoy a summer of fun in Chorley and South Ribble

With stunning parks across the areas, it is no wonder that Chorley and South Ribble have a jam-packed calendar of park events, taking you right through to September.

From flower shows to theatre performances, forest school sessions to craft workshops, there are a variety of different things going on.

Find out more info below and don't forget, these can be combined with a trip to the markets in both Chorley and Leyland, a bite to eat in some great cafes and restaurants nearby, or a shopping spree in some lovely independent stores.

Chorley Flower Show

31st July – 2nd August 

Astley Park, Chorley

Chorley Flower Show is back! The weekend of fantastic floral displays and superb show gardens will wow the crowds once again this year. Expect lots of great entertainment including rides and activities for the kids, demonstrations from big names and more as you wander the park in the sunshine.

Summer Studio Workshops 

4th - 25th August 

Astley Park, Chorley

Get crafty at Astley! This summer there will be regular summer studio sessions in the Coach House Studio and Walled Garden. These sessions are for over 16s only but include a range of artist-led crafting sessions for just £15 each. Choose from sketchbook stories, Creative Reuse, Woven Flowers and Botanical Stitching.

Chorley Summer Play Day

5th August 

Coronation Recreation Ground, Chorley 

Play – here, there and everywhere! Join in with a full day of play this August, there will be a full range of fun activities for families including face painting, inflatables, rock climbing and more.

Chorfest

7th – 9th August 

Astley Park, Chorley

Chorfest 2026 is set to bring a weekend of incredible talent to Chorley this August, with a whole programme of incredible live acts to enjoy in the beautiful setting of Astley Park. You can enjoy acts such as The BonJovi Experience, Oasis96, The KopyKat Killers, Swift and Styles and Lancashire's very own Boomin'. Tickets are on sale now, though weekend tickets have been snapped up fast, so you will have to decide which day is right for you!

Brass Band Picnic

16th August 

Withy Grove Park, Bamber Bridge

The wonderful Chorley Silver Band will be playing in Withy Grove Park, so bring your picnic and enjoy traditional brass band sounds in this lovely park. What's more, the park has a fabulous children's play area where they can let off steam too.

Forest Friend Adventures

23 August

Longton Brickcroft Nature Reserve Visitor Centre, Longton

Hidden Forest Adventures will be hosting two 90-minute woodland-based activity camps that include; woodland craft making, scavenger hunting, den building, the mud kitchen and even marshmallow toasting! This event is completely free; however, registration is required and places are limited.

Theatre in the Park – The Tales of Peter Rabbit 

27th August 

Worden Park, Leyland

The Quantum Theatre Co are bringing Peter Rabbit and his friends to life on the lawns of Worden Hall! Come and experience live storytelling that’s exciting, playful and engaging- a charming show perfect for all the family. Tickets are selling fast so grab yours now!

Theatre in the Park - Treasure Island 

28th August 

Astley Park, Chorley 

Quantum Theatre return to the Astley Walled Garden with the classic pirate tale Treasure Island this August. Expect pirate ships, pieces of eight and salty old seadogs as young Jim Hawkins stumbles upon a treasure map! This production will be fun for the whole family, with adult, child and family tickets available.

Bubble Blast

31st August

Worden Park, Leyland 

Get ready for a bubble‑blasting extravaganza at Worden Park! Join us for an unforgettable afternoon of family fun featuring some of the region’s best bubble entertainers. Enjoy interactive shows, playful performances, and hands‑on bubble activities for all ages.

Theatre in the Park – Last Night of the Proms 

5th September

Astley Park, Chorley

Outreach Opera return to Astley Park for their Last Night of the Proms open-air concert, in the beautiful setting of the Walled Garden and joined once more by the Bolton Hoover Band. Pack your picnics and bring your friends and family for this marvellous musical event. Enjoy a journey from opera through to songs from the west end, finishing with much loved traditional British anthems, including Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem, for those who enjoy a flag waving, singalong.
