Blackpool celebrates afternoon tea week

From freshly baked scones to thousands of gallons of tea, The Blackpool Tower Ballroom is preparing to celebrate Afternoon Tea Week after revealing it serves more than 45,000 afternoon teas every year.

The iconic venue, which welcomes guests from across the world, will mark the annual celebration with a special menu showcasing a different internationally inspired dessert each day.

The iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom serves an impressive 45,000 afternoon teas every year, equating to 135,000 sandwiches, 45,000 scones and more than 3,000 gallons of tea.

Dating back to 1894, The Blackpool Tower Ballroom is renowned around the world for its spectacular architecture, ornate décor and unique sprung dance floor. More than 130 years after opening, it continues to attract visitors and dance enthusiasts from across the globe.

When not hosting everything from BBC's Strictly Come Dancing to Northern Soul events, community celebrations and corporate functions, the Ballroom provides a unique setting for traditional afternoon tea, accompanied by the sounds of the famous Wurlitzer organ.

Thousands of guests enjoy afternoon tea in the historic venue each year, with freshly prepared sandwiches, homemade cakes and traditional scones served directly to their table. To celebrate Afternoon Tea Week, a special menu will feature a different internationally inspired dessert each day.

This year has also seen the introduction of a brand-new children's afternoon tea menu, offering a selection of sandwiches and cakes for just £9.95.
