About Military establishments in Lancashire during WW2 - An evening talk with Author Aldon Ferguson
In the lead up to outbreak of WW2 in 1939 there was a massive expansion of Lancashire's Military facilities and infrastructure. These included new Airfields, such as RAF Squires Gate and Stanley Park, alongside new Barracks, training facilities, Docks, Firing and Bomb ranges, Munitions factories and more. Although Lancashire was far from occupied Europe, it has access to the Ports of Liverpool and Preston, and a huge workforce on hand. The notoriously changeable weather also made life more difficult for any future Luftwaffe raids.
Author Aldon Ferguson will be hosting an evening in at Hangar 42, to discuss the types of developments Lancashire experienced and how the Lancastrians were called to duty in the the support of Wartime Britain. There will be an opportunity to purchase Aldons latest book and have it signed at this event.
There are a limited number of tickets on sale, with the price of 12.50 including hot/cold drink at the interval.
