About Illustrated Artist Talk: Jude Wainwright - The Whitaker
Join us for an artists talk with Manchester-based artist Jude Wainwright, presented in conjunction with her solo exhibition, Spectacle.
In this in-depth presentation, Jude will discuss the themes underpinning the exhibition: identity, memory and performance, and explore how her layered, symbol-rich portraits invite us to question what lies beneath the surface of self-presentation. She will reflect on the development of Spectacle, created in response to The Whitakers collection, and consider how personal narrative, historical reference and audience participation intersect within her practice.
Semi-finalist in Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year, and an award-winning artist and Studio Manager at AWOL Studios, Hope Mill, Jude Wainwright is known for her surreal self-portraiture and theatrical visual language. This talk offers a valuable opportunity to gain deeper insight into her most ambitious solo exhibition to date.
The talk will conclude with an informal Q&A, giving audiences the chance to ask questions and engage directly with the artist.
