This Sunday is National Ice Cream Day, and with so many fabulous parlours situated throughout Lancashire, we could not help but pull together some suggestions of where to celebrate the day.

Frederick's, Chorley
Frederick's in Chorley has been providing delicious flavours for nearly 90 years! Now with two locations, one on Bolton Road and the other, Masa's, in the centre of the town. The company provides the finest high quality ice cream, with a fascinating history. The Bolton Road location offers an outstanding 42 different flavours of true Italian ice cream to enjoy.

Mrs Dowsons Farm, Blackburn
From humble beginnings in 2001 when they created the first few pots of vanilla ice cream on the family farm, Mrs Dowsons have been focused on creating a quality product with honest local ingredients.
Using full cream milk fresh from their dairy herd and local ingredients, Mrs Dowsons offers incredible flavours in a custom-made ice cream parlour on the edge of the farm park that is known and loved by many. You can spend the afternoon at the farm getting to know the cows that produce the milk, then head along to the parlour to see which one is love at first lick. Mrs Dowsons also supply Bowland Wild Boar Park with fabulous ice cream, amongst other outlets throughout the county.

Billy Bob's Parlour, Wyre
Want Ice Cream the American way? Look no further! Billy Bob's Parlour in Myerscough is a 60s American style diner, home to nearly 30 different flavours made at their sister site in Skipton. Offered either as they are in cones and tubs, or as part of an extensive range of incredible desserts such as pancakes, waffles, crepes and more. With flavours like Key Lime Pie, Cotton Candy and the option to enjoy a soda float, the Parlour offers a touch of American with your British ice cream.

Farm on the Fell, Wyre
From retro America to one of the most modern-day experiences you can encounter… head to Farm on the Fell to enjoy Gelato ice cream, and a vending machine full of farm fresh milk and milkshakes! Farm on the Fell is a cow with calf dairy farm which aims to offer the most natural options for milk in the area. In addition to this, they provide a fabulous vending machine full of fresh milk, and great milkshakes with different flavours every week. While on the farm head to the gelato shop for a range of flavours to sit and enjoy while taking in the stunning views within the Forest of Bowland National Landscape.

Holmes Mill, Ribble Valley
Another great option for artisan gelato is Holmes Mill, where you can find an array of Lancashire foodie delights thanks to the Bowland Food Hall. While visiting the hall for other produce, head to the Gelateria for 18 different flavours of gelato and additional flavours of vegan sorbet! The Gelateria also offers waffles, crepes and milkshakes for the perfect weekend or afterschool treat.

Knickerbockers at Flower Bowl Entertainment Centre, Wyre
When the Topping family opened an entertainment centre in the heart of Lancashire, they knew that the activities on offer wouldn’t be the only thing special about the space. In addition to the curling rink, bowling alleys, crazy golf and pool and plush cinema, there are some wonderful places to eat, and Knickerbockers is the place to go if you want a sweet treat. Situated in a five-metre melting ice cream cone, Knickerbockers really stands out in the beautiful space, and the Italian style gelato is necessary for any visitor. Chose to have the ice cream in a tub, cone, or a milkshake!

Countrystyle Meats' Ice Cream Parlour, Lancaster
Where else would you expect to find ice cream if not a farm shop? Countrystyle Meats offers amazing local produce from its home on Lancaster Brewery's leisure park, right next door to the beautiful Williamson Park. The shop itself is complimented by an ice cream parlour next door with over 20 flavours of Wallings Ice Cream, a favourite of the local residents. The Countrystyle Kitchen restaurant also offers the ice cream as part of its dessert menu. Grab an ice cream then head over the road to the park to really make the most of the sunshine.
