Samuel Bamford was a weaver, poet, and political reformer. Born in Middleton, Lancashire in 1788, he is still loved and respected in his hometown. His life traversed the pre and post-industrial eras in northern England and his two autobiographies published in his lifetime provide a vivid and tangible insight into life, during this volatile period of British life.
Actor Neil Bell, who portrayed Sam in the 2018 Mike Leigh film Peterloo, will be reading from these works as well as reading a selection of Bamford's poetry. Samuel's wife is being played by Jennifer Reid
