Currently based in Padiham, Burnley Richard Cafiero gained over 50 years ago a BFA in Graphic Arts and Design and an MFA in Fine Arts in the State of California. Richard participated in many exhibitions and in 1970 was selected by the city of Los Angeles as that year's 'New Talent'. He completed a number of commissions and solo shows and served as president of the Westwood Art Association.
Cafiero moved to Burnley and had a long career as a specialist nurse and Head of Rochdale Health’s Learning Disability Services from 1985 – 2005. He returned to working as an artist after retirement. As well as showing his own work he has Chaired the Gay and Lesbian Arts Society and also chaired the Littleborough Arts Festival for 10 years.
