Films at The Whitaker: Taste of Cherry

The first Iranian feature to win the Palme d'Or, this beautiful, minimalist film by the great Abbas Kiarostami follows the enigmatic Mr. Badii as he drives his truck around the hilly outskirts of Tehran in search of someone who will quietly bury him under a cherry tree after he commits suicide.

He meets an assortment of different characters, but each have reasons to turn down the job, these extended conversations elicit different views on mortality and individual choice.
