The Whitaker

Set in beautiful parkland surrounded by the breath-taking views of Rossendale Valley, The Whitaker connects people to nature, culture, and each other through creativity.  Creating opportunities to explore a range of topics - from serious issues to the light-hearted; the big questions to small wonders. This is done in a sometimes challenging, but always in an inclusive and supported way.

You can spend all day at The Whitaker; wandering through the museum.  You will encounter the infamous tier and python scene, the two animals locked in a battle to the death!  Discover the changing programme of art exhibitions, dine in our café, experience the tranquillity of the garden, take in the views of the valley or explore the park. You can even leave with freshly picked herbs from the Incredible edible garden right outside.

In the new research space you can get up close to collections and investigate your family history.  There are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved, to learn, participate and contribute to the story of The Whitaker.  An exciting programme of activities includes film nights, live music, family activities, tours and talks.
