Horse and Bamboo - Red Ridinghood

A wonderfully quirky, creative and buzzing family-friendly venue in Waterfoot, Rossendale. It is also the home of Horse + Bamboo Theatre.  The theatre we make and present is always visually inventive, often incorporating different forms of  puppetry. Sunday afternoon family performances also include an hour of family art making activities before and after the show. “It’s just a lovely experience”.

H+B are 35 years old this year. We started our life in Rossendale, in Lancashire, England, and in Rossendale we remain. In 2013 we work in many of the same ways we did in 1978, with masks, puppets, music and story-telling being at the heart of our theatre, now with the addition of film and animation. The company doesn’t work to any formula, and we develop and re-shape ourselves to meet new and changing circumstances.

We now have a wonderful base, the Boo, in Waterfoot, Rossendale, which is large enough to serve as a venue for theatre shows and other arts events of our own making and from visiting companies and artists. The Boo enables us to offer the community in Rossendale and beyond a special place to meet, create and share.
