
As the country remembers the gunpowder plot this week, many Lancashire towns, villages and cities are holding their bonfire night events over the weekend. Alongside these, there are so many more events taking place throughout the county making it a jam packed weekend.

Light up Lancaster
6th- 8th November
Light Up Lancaster returns providing a magical exploration of the city of Lancaster as you’ve never seen it before.
Pop into the city centre for your evening meal, then enjoy a feast for the eyes as you discover enchanting light-artworks and captivating installations in Lancaster’s streets and squares. The event takes place from 5pm from Thursday through to Saturday, with a theme of ‘In The Blink of an Eye’. Expect fun, engaging and clever light artworks alongside great stalls at the Food Futures Market and One More Bites Street Food Market in the Castle, plus many of the city's food and drink establishments will remain open into the night for you to enjoy.
Autumn Glow Night
7th November
Another firework-free bonfire night celebration is happening at The Anderton Centre in Chroely. The centre is inviting guests to enjoy the wonder of the season through LED lanterns, autumn themed crafts, leaf crowns, firework inspired art workshops and pinecone decorating, with storytelling zones around the campfire, family friendly films and glow in the dark mini games. This is perfect for families who have member with additional needs or who find traditional bonfire celebrations a little overwhelming.
Bonfire Weekend at Thornton Hall Country Park
7th & 8th November
Looking for something more traditional? Then head to Thornton Hall Country Park for their Bonfire Weekend Spectacular. The annual event returns bigger, brighter and louder than ever with a blazing bonfire, fantastic fireworks and so much excitement. There will be bars (one family friendly and the other adult only) on hand to serve a range of drinks, food stalls and live music and even fire-breathers! The event usually sells out, and early bird tickets have already gone, so be quick to secure yours now!
Light up Astley
7th November
Another traditional celebration of Bonfire Night, the Astley park firework display is renowned for its fun and excitement. This year the event is being combined with the Astley Illuminated event titled Light up Astley, a free event which will feature light installations, bonfire, fireworks, entertainment, delicious food and drink and children's fairground rides to the park.
Ghost Tours at Hoghton Tower
8th November
Not ready to say goodbye to Halloween yet? We don’t blame you! If you love all things spooky, get yourself to Hoghton Tower this weekend where you can ascend the long driveway of what is considered to be the third most haunted house in Britain. There you will be guided by silent torchbearers through the darkened halls of the Tower. Go from room to room and discover the stories that lie within, and if you dare, venture into the underground passages where footsteps still echo. You will also be treated to a Lancastrian tow course meal of either meat and potato pie or butter pie, with stick toffee pudding dessert.
Insus Unearthed: A Journey Through Roman Lancaster
Ongoing until 10th November
This weekend marks the last chance for you to discover how Romans lived, worked and built the fort in the heart of Lancaster. This fascinating exhibition at City Museum will teach you all about the very name of Lancaster, and how the city as we know it grew from Roman roots.
